What Video Card will my computer support?
I have a Dell Inspiron 518
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40GHz
3GB RAM
And since I don't know what info you'd use to determine this:
Chipset: Intel(R) G33/G31 286MB
Res: 1440x900
I have no idea what slots I have or anything, but I was wondering if the BFGTech GeForce 9600 GT OC would fit and/or work. 8]

So what can I do within a reasonable price to be able to play Fallout 3 or Dead Space.
I really don't need a Crysis or CoD4 super card.
No sorry, you don't have a decent bandwidth port in that motherboard.

You would need a PCI-E16X slot for that card or any other good card from the last 3 years or so, Dell cheeped out on the motherboard, there's nothing wrong with on-board graphics for some uses, but not giving you the option for a dedicated graphics card is just cheap.
You would need to replace the motherboard and the PSU if you wanted to put in a decent card.

You can't put a 16X card in a 1X port, you will need a new mobo/PSU for any graphics upgrade to be an option.
No 1xPCI card is going to run Fallout 3 or Dead Space.
You will get a mobo with a PCI-E port for $60 or less, and a half decent PSU will cost around $120, gwt at least a 600W with as many amps per 12v rail as you can find, that will accommodate even the biggest cards
