I am either going to buy a Compaq or HP laptop. But I don't know which graphics card is better a Nvidia GeForce 8200M (1407MB) or ATi Radeon HD4530?

It's the ATI by a mile.
Not only is the ATI HD4530 around 4 times faster, but it also has it's own dedicated memory of 512MB.
The Nvidia has no memory of it's own. when the specs says it has 1407MB, it borrows that from the laptops 4GB memory. This makes it even slower, and reduces how much memory your laptop has.
