Which laptop graphics card is best for gaming?
Hey everyone. I am looking to purchase a new Alienware M15x gaming laptop but can't decide which graphics card is better. The top choices are:
1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5850
1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
Which one of these cards is better? I am looking for something that will be able to plow through the new games like a hot knife through butter. Poor analogy, I know. =) I will be playing games like Morrowind up to the bad boys being shelled out today.
If possible, please explain WHY one card is better than the other. I am looking to max out game settings and watch the fps fly.
In terms of power they are about the same. They are both High End laptop video cards, the advantage the ATI 5850 has is that it is a direct X 11 video card and the GTX 260 is a direct X 10 video card. The ATI will be compatible with future games where the Nvidia won't. ATI also releases update drivers for their video card monthly so they are always getting better.
