3d fuzion geforce fx 5500 pci

video card problem need help?

yeah i just bought a 3d fuzion nvidia 256 mb geforce fx 5500 video card and i follow all the instructions like disabling my old drivers and all that and my computer keeps freezing during installation or the screen will turn completely back on start up/during installation, anyone know what the problem is?

by the way i have windows xp and i'm using pci slot

were you using the onboard video before installing the new card? If so, you probably have to disable it from the cmos settings and tell your computer to look for the new card. To get to your cmos setting (some times refered to as BIOS settings) you have to press a button on your keyboard durring start up. Normally this is the 'del' key or 'f2', but could be some other odd combination depending on the computer. (I had one that required 'ctrl'+'alt'+'return')
Then go to the video settings and set every thing up that it asks. mainly to use the PCI slot over the onboard or what ever else it may be set to.
