Computer Freezing While Playing Games -- URGENT!!?

I wouldn't have asked this question if I didn't make every effort towards fixing this issue.

Any game I run seems to freeze/completely lockup my entire computer, forcing me to manually restart, at random within 2 minutes and if I'm lucky, 3 hours.

I know it's not an overheating issue, because my case is open right next to the window with 5 fans.

I've got all my drivers updated. I've tried reformatting. I just don't know what it could be.

Here's my system specs:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 5000+, MMX, 3DNow
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Page File: 289MB used, 2172 MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

Best guess, its a hardware issue from the sound of it, try running a high intensive graphics program besides a game like.... Encode a video or Render a 3D object.

Or try a bench mark test and see which test it crashes in, mem86 good way to test your ram to see if its defunt.

If it does crash its hardware, which means it needs to be replaced
