Choppy and slow games with nvidia geforce 7300 GT?
Just bought a Nvidia Geforce 7300GT and im still having severe FPS problems. Annoyingly the best im reaching is around 14 FPS on FPS tests like battlefield 2142 and half life 2 and i was wondering if i had to do with my cpu speed or my processor.
System Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+ 1.4ghz
Nvidia Geforce 7300GT 512 MB DDR2
Maxtor 300 GB Hard Drive (ATA)
1023 MB RAM

Return the video card you just bought if you can. It was a waste of money. You will not see any benefit from it since your processor is what is capped.
An Athalon XP 1600 is a very old single core (must be going on 7/8 years old...don't care enough to google it). You processor simply can't handle what is being thrown at it. I would also think twice about just upgrading your processor since even if you do, you also might be architecture capped on your mother board. Unless you were very forward thinking with your current PC, it is unlikely your MOBO can handle the newer socket sets.
In short, to upgrade your processor to something (e6600,e8400,q6600,q9300, not sure of your price range) you'll likely have to upgrade your MOBO so that the system architecture can handle the socket set.
Also, to run those games you might need to actually think about upgrading your RAM too. You can get 2x1gig sticks for cheap now-a-days ($70 bucks on newegg).
Instead of simply upgrading, if you can afford it, it might be best at this point to just build a new PC.
Wish I could find the article, but a gaming site (maybe tech-report PC) did a comparison of an old PC and whether AGP cards or processors or buses were maxing out. In short though, CP was definately capping.

The technical side of the DV6000 it measures 14 inches wide, 1 inch thick and 10.1 inches deep not any bigger than other laptops in its class. The aspect that sets the DV6000 apart from the rest of the laptops in its class is that its only 6.2 pounds making it lighter than similar laptops.
